What is Earl Grey?
Earl Grey is one of Britain’s most iconic teas, distinguished by its fragrant blend of black tea infused with oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit.
Traditionally, Earl Grey is made with a base of Chinese black tea and flavoured with natural bergamot oil. Today, it remains a British favourite, often enjoyed with a slice of lemon or a splash of milk.
Why is it called Earl Grey?
The tea is believed to be named after Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl Grey, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1834.
The origins of the blend are somewhat shrouded in legend. One popular story suggests that the tea was gifted to Lord Grey by a Chinese mandarin after one of Grey’s men rescued the mandarin’s son from drowning. While the historical accuracy of this tale is debated, it’s widely agreed that the tea gained popularity in the early 19th century and was eventually commercialised by British tea companies.

Beautiful fresh delightful tea. Fabulous flavor
I’ve always been an Earl Grey fan, but this one really is something special. The flavour is bold and fragrant, without tipping into bitterness. You can tell the quality of the leaves is top notch just by looking at them. It’s become my go to when I want a proper, satisfying cup of tea.
this is a really superior Earl Grey tea - I can’t recommend it enough, even if you think that Earl Grey is not for you
This is the best earl grey I have had hands down!!
