What is Jasmine Gold Dragon Tea?
Jasmine Gold Dragon is a luxurious jasmine-scented green tea, prized for its smooth taste, floral aroma, and premium craftsmanship. The base of this tea is made from high-quality green tea leaves, usually harvested in early spring when the leaves are most tender and flavourful.
What sets Jasmine Gold Dragon apart is not just the tea itself but the traditional scenting process using May jasmine flowers.
The Role of May Jasmine Flowers
In traditional jasmine tea production, the fresh jasmine blossoms are key to imparting the signature fragrance. For Jasmine Gold Dragon, the flowers used are often harvested in May, when the first and most aromatic jasmine blooms of the season appear.
Here’s how the flowers are incorporated:
Jasmine buds are picked in the early morning while still closed. These particular May blooms are known for their intense fragrance and freshness.
In the evening, when the flowers naturally open, they are layered over and among the green tea leaves. This allows the tea to absorb the floral aroma overnight.
For high-grade teas like Jasmine Gold Dragon, this process is repeated multiple times (sometimes 5–7 rounds) with fresh flowers each time, enhancing the depth and complexity of the aroma.
After the scenting, the spent jasmine flowers are typically removed so the final tea doesn't become overly perfumed or bitter only the pure, natural scent remains.
